I'm rather glad I didn't pre-buy tickets to steamcon... but only because I would've had to miss it *and* would've wasted the money. Benadryl is not my drug of choice.
Doubtless I will find a future opportunity to steampunk the pimp hat I bought at the swapmeet.

Do not try to solve the AABB plane problem, that's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth.

It was really good to attend PAX.
It's nice to have a reminder that a lot of people actually enjoy playing games and there are people out there who really appreciate the time and effort that goes into a well made game.

I'm starting to get the hang of my electric range.
Sea scallops, smashed cauliflower, shiitake mushrooms. Served with a white wine sauce made with sweet onions.
Not bad for throwing things together at the last minute.

I managed to get a score of 35 in the engine yard programming contest. Which is fairly respectable.
I'm trying to decide if its worth my time to go back through and figure out how to bump my program's performance up from ~1M permutations/sec/core up to something respectable.

Assembly of the tesla turbine is coming along (assuming I haven't screwed up the air vents too badly).

So far I've gotten many more birthday wishes from humans than automated services (yay)
So, this Past year I:
Shipped Mercenaries 2
Helped push Lord of the Rings: Conquest out the door
Was laid off
Got a new job with better pay in a less toxic environment
Moved to a new state
Bought a house
Drank more than I should have
Got skin cancer
Had the cancer lopped off and now have a scar
Had stitches for the first time
Learned to irrigate my sinuses with salt water after my extracted wisdom tooth became rather infected
Had a pet die
Got to keep the guide dog we were raising
Drove from Los Angeles to Seattle... twice
Learned enough guitar that I can play two songs that are almost recognizable
Made Beer Goggles
Made beer
Started growing my own hops
Learned a neat trick where memcpy can be used to efficiently cast types into CPU registers
Started having a real go at multithreaded game programming
Started teaching myself ruby
Modded a Nerf gun
Caught up with old friends
Listened to a lot of music, some of it live (and in fun bars)
Started building a hopback so that my counterflow chiller won't get clogged anymore

Ate lots of crazy good food
... and I Spent lots of time being happily married to Kate.
So, all in all, it's been a good (albeit stressful) year.
